Fundraiser Benefiting Parker Lockaby- National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Pathways to STEM
Our son Parker has been nominated by his teacher at Brooklet Elementary School to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Pathways to STEM at Emory University this summer. This is an incredible honor and a unique opportunity for Parker to explore his interests in science, technology, engineering, and math, while also developing important leadership skills. The NYLF Pathways to STEM program is designed for outstanding elementary students and offers hands-on learning experiences, including robotics challenges and engineering design projects. Parker will also participate in a leadership curriculum that focuses on self-awareness, social skills, and responsible decision-making, all in a supportive and engaging environment.
Parker has a diagnosis of Autism Level 1, which means he is extremely intelligent but still learning how to interact with his peers. He has made great progress with the help of special classes at school, and this camp will give him even more opportunities to grow in his personal and social skills. Attending this program away from home will help Parker advance his independence, confidence, and life skills, setting him on a path to future success.
