Plaza Volunteer Rescue Squad exists for one purpose: to deliver the highest quality pre‑hospital emergency care to the citizens and visitors of Virginia Beach, while promoting safety and preparedness throughout our community. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we proudly serve as one of ten volunteer rescue stations that support the city’s emergency medical system.
Located in the heart of Virginia Beach, our station houses five (5) Advanced Life Support ambulances and responds to calls across the entire city. With an average of 58,000 emergency calls each year, our volunteers are often the first point of care during someone’s most critical moments.
Our team includes more than 60 dedicated volunteers who staff ambulances, provide administrative support, and ensure our station is always ready to respond. Their commitment allows us to deliver lifesaving care at no cost to those who need it.
Although our volunteers give their time freely, the tools required to save lives are not free. We rely heavily on community donations to fund:
• Replacement of essential medical equipment
• Uniforms and protective gear
• Supplies needed for patient care
• Maintenance of our ambulances and station
