The Wiltwyck Chapter, NSDAR was founded in 1892 by Mary Isabella Forsyth. The
Chapter purchased the stone house in 1907, saving it from the wrecking ball. Up and
coming architect, Myron Teller, was hired to design the renovations.
Since 1907, Wiltwyck Chapter has been a steady steward of the historic property, thus
practicing one of the three pillars of the National Society – Historic Preservation.
Maintaining a house of this era is quite costly. We use dues from our small membership
for these expenses, and find that they aren’t enough to keep up with projects required.
